International Copyright Institute (2021)
U.S. Copyright Office Hosts Virtual 2021 International Copyright Institute Training for Copyright Officials from 24 Countries
After postponing a planned in-person meeting of the International Copyright Institute (ICI) in 2020 as the result of COVID-19, the Copyright Office and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) co-hosted a virtual two-day symposium for individuals from 24 nations and regional organizations on July 15 and 16, 2021. ICI is one of the Office's premier training events that brings senior-level copyright officials from developing countries and countries in transition to discuss current topics in copyright law and policy. This year's virtual ICI, which focused on digital copyright developments in the U.S. and internationally, included panel discussions on Artificial Intelligence, the Music Modernization Act, the new Copyright Claims Board, and the impact of COVID-19 on copyright law and the creative industries.
The following countries and regional organizations were invited to participate in the symposium:
Albania | Brazil | Chile | Costa Rica |
Dominican Republic | Egypt | Fiji | The Gambia |
Jamaica | Kenya | Kuwait | Mexico |
Namibia | Pakistan | Peru | Philippines |
Saudi Arabia | South Africa | Thailand | Togo |
Ukraine | Uzbekistan | Vietnam | League of Arab States |
