U.S. Copyright Office Publishes Final Rules Relating to Group Registration Options for Serials and Newspapers

The U.S. Copyright Office has published two final rules in the Federal Register making technical amendments to its regulations for the group registration options for serials and newspapers.
For group serials, the final rule ends the phase-out period for paper applications and physical deposits. Beginning December 31, 2019, applicants must use the online application and upload a complete digital copy of each issue through the electronic registration system. For group newspapers, the final rule ends the phase-out period for microfilm. Beginning January 1, 2010, applicants must upload a digital copy of each issue; microfilm submissions will no longer be accepted for purposes of registration. More information can be found here.
