Dates of public hearings in Washington, D.C.,
on possible exemptions to the prohibition against circumvention
of technological measures that control access to copyrighted works
(68 FR 13652).
Note that there has been a revision in the dates
of the public hearings that the Copyright Office will hold in
its rulemaking on the possible exemptions to the prohibition against
circumvention of technological measures that control access to
copyrighted works. The hearings that were scheduled to take place
on April 15 and 30 have been canceled. Instead there will now
be an afternoon hearing on May 1, a full day of hearings on May
2, and a hearing on May 9.
The May hearings in D.C. will all be held at the
Postal Rate Commission, 1333 H Street, NW., Third Floor, Washington,
D.C. A Federal Register notice will be published soon announcing
these new hearing dates. The Copyright Office will also be posting
the full agenda of the May hearings in D.C. and in LA shortly.

Phase
I of Cable Statutory License Proceedings for 1998 and 1999 Royalties
Announced
The Copyright Office of the Library of Congress
announces the initiation of, and schedule for, the 180-day arbitration
period for the Phase I distribution of royalties collected under
the cable statutory license of the Copyright Act for the 1998 and
1999 calendar years. All hearings and meetings for the proceeding
to distribute section 111 royalties will take place in the James
Madison Memorial Building, Room LM-414, First and Independence Avenues,
S.E., Washington, D.C. 20540. The first day of hearings will begin
at 10 a.m. on April 24, 2003. All additional hearings will begin
at 9 a.m. (read details)
