COPYRIGHT OFFICE ANNOUNCES ALTERNATIVE METHODS FOR FILING CLAIMS TO 2002 CABLE AND SATELLITE ROYALTY FUNDS
The Copyright Office of the Library of Congress announces alternative methods for filing claims to 2002 cable and satellite royalty funds. In addition to the traditional methods, the Office is offering an electronic filing option and strongly encourages claimants to use this method when filing their 2002 cable and satellite claims in order to avoid potential problems with mail delivery. Cable and satellite forms, including instructions for filing the claim electronically, will be available during the month of July on the Copyright Office website. Claims filed online must be received by the Office server no later than 11:59 p.m. eastern time on July 31, 2003, and claimants using this filing option must provide an email address. However, in the case where the claim is filed electronically, the claim need not include the signature of the claimant or of the claimant's duly authorized representative. This requirement has been waived for the electronic filings but only for this filing period. Claims may also be hand-delivered or mailed to the Office, although delivery by mail is strongly discouraged. (read details)
