Negotiation Period for the Adjustment of Rates and Terms for the Digital Performance of Sound Recordings (66 FR 1700)

The Copyright Office of the Library of Congress is announcing the 6-month negotiation period for the adjustment of royalty rates and terms for the public performance of copyrighted sound recordings by preexisting subscription services and preexisting satellite digital audio radio services. The Office is also requesting those parties participating in the negotiations to notify the Office. The 6-month negotiation period begins on January 9, 2001. Notification of participation in the negotiation period is requested by January 31, 2001.

Calendar

• January 10: Due date for Notices of Intent to Participate in CARP setting rates and terms for digital performance right in sound recordings and ephemeral recordings (65 FR 77393)

• January 31: Date to file notification of participation in 6-month negotiation period for the adjustment of royalty rates and terms for the public performance of copyrighted sound recordings by preexisting subscription services and preexisting satellite digital audio radio services (66 FR 1700)

• April 16: Close of 180-day arbitration period for Phase II distribution of the 1997 cable royalty funds for the syndicated programming category (65 FR 65335)
